Opening Plenary - Building Sustainable, Smart, and Resilient Port Infrastructure
The Port of Long Beach is one of the busiest and most crucial ports in the United States, playing a vital role in global trade and significantly impacting the local, federal, and global economy. Ensuring the continuous operation and security of its infrastructure, while at the same time undertaking substantial building projects, is imperative. This session will explore the critical infrastructure investments underway, and the key considerations necessary for developing physical infrastructure improvement, asset maintenance and protection, and the integration of green infrastructure and sustainability initiatives. The Port of Long Beach sets a benchmark for operational efficiency and stands as a cornerstone of economic and environmental progress worldwide.

In this closing plenary session, all conference attendees will be invited to explore the world of sustainable innovation, smart cities, and the evolving landscape of design and construction. This insightful session will challenge the audience to reconsider their assumptions about the future and their role in shaping it. The session will also feature ASCE’s Future World Vision project as well as the latest giant screen feature film, Cities of the Future.
